deprivation is also caused by social framework conditions.<\/em><\/strong><\/p><p><strong>Political action is needed:<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>Inclusion in the national prevention strategy (NCD) from 2029 by the FOPH, the Conference of Cantonal Health Directors (GDK), and the Health Promotion Switzerland Foundation<\/li><li>Anchoring sleep education in lower secondary education <\/li><li>Training of specialists in sleep health (Healthcare Assistants (FaBe) EFZ, social pedagogues (HF\/FH), youth workers, teachers, special education teachers, and nursing professionals)<\/li><li>Adjust structural conditions: flexible school start times and daily schedules<\/li><li>Monitor sleep among children and adolescents in Switzerland (national studies)<\/li><li>Low-threshold, evidence-based prevention services for adolescents<\/li><li>Raising public awareness of the importance of sleep health through campaigns by the FOPH and Health Promotion Switzerland<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>Goal: systematically strengthen sleep health and, in the long term, safeguard health, education, and productivity.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div adolescents equally<\/strong><\/p><p>Socially disadvantaged families are more often affected by unfavorable living conditions (noise, cramped spaces, sense of safety), irregular working hours, and high family and social stress\u2014all factors that have been shown to affect children\u2019s and adolescents\u2019 sleep.<\/p><p><strong>Unfavorable sleep conditions therefore amplify social inequality.<\/strong><\/p><p><em><strong>Restorative sleep is an important health resource for equal opportunities.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-11fa0a2 e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" deprivation.<\/strong><\/p><p>Biologically, children and adolescents need more sleep than adults. This is important for their brain development.
